Solutions
Solution 1: Enable Two-Finger Scroll in Settings
- 1Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Touchpad
- 2Click "Scroll & zoom" to expand the section
- 3Ensure "Drag two fingers to scroll" is toggled ON
- 4Set scroll direction to your preference (down motion scrolls down or up)
- 5If the Touchpad section shows minimal options:
- 6You may have a basic driver — see next solution to install precision driver
- 7Also check: "Taps" section → ensure "Tap with two fingers to right-click" is on
Solution 2: Update or Reinstall Touchpad Driver
- 1Device Manager → Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices
- 2Find your touchpad (Synaptics, ELAN, Alps, or "HID-compliant touch pad")
- 3Right-click → Update driver → Search automatically
- 4If that doesn't help: go to your laptop manufacturer's support site
- 5Download the latest touchpad driver for your exact laptop model
- 6Install it and restart
- 7For precision touchpad support: look for "I2C HID Device" in Device Manager
- 8If you see "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" instead, you need the manufacturer driver
Solution 3: Reset Touchpad to Defaults
- 1Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Touchpad
- 2Scroll down and click "Reset" under "Reset your touchpad"
- 3This restores all gesture settings to factory defaults
- 4If no Reset button: uninstall the touchpad driver:
- 5Device Manager → touchpad device → Uninstall device → check "Delete driver"
- 6Restart Windows — it will reinstall the default driver
- 7Then go back to Settings and re-enable two-finger scroll
- 8If using Synaptics: also check Synaptics Control Panel for gesture settings
