How to Fix Fix Windows Suggested Actions Not Appearing on Windows

Windows 11 Suggested Actions not showing when copying dates, phone numbers, or text? Fix the suggested actions feature with these troubleshooting steps.

Symptoms

You might be experiencing this problem if you notice:

  • Copying a date or phone number does not show suggested actions popup
  • Suggested Actions feature appears to be completely missing
  • The popup appears briefly then disappears immediately
  • Only some types of content trigger suggested actions, not others
  • Feature worked before but stopped after a Windows update
  • Suggested Actions option missing from Settings

Common Causes

  • Suggested Actions feature disabled in Windows Settings
  • Running an older Windows 11 version that does not support the feature
  • Clipboard history disabled preventing action detection
  • Regional settings not supporting suggested action content types
  • Third-party clipboard manager intercepting clipboard events
  • Feature flag not enabled for the current Windows Insider channel

Solutions

Solution 1: Enable Suggested Actions in Settings

  1. 1Open Settings → System → Clipboard
  2. 2Find "Suggested actions" and toggle it On
  3. 3If not visible, your Windows version may not support it yet
  4. 4Also ensure "Clipboard history" is turned On
  5. 5Press Win+V to verify clipboard history works
  6. 6Copy a date like "January 15, 2025" to test
  7. 7A popup should appear suggesting to create a calendar event

Solution 2: Update Windows to Latest Version

  1. 1Open Settings → Windows Update
  2. 2Click "Check for updates"
  3. 3Install all available updates
  4. 4Suggested Actions requires Windows 11 22H2 or later
  5. 5If on an older version, install the feature update
  6. 6Restart PC after updates
  7. 7Check Settings → System → Clipboard for the Suggested actions toggle

Solution 3: Disable Third-Party Clipboard Managers

  1. 1Check if you have a third-party clipboard manager installed (e.g., Ditto, ClipX, CopyQ)
  2. 2Temporarily disable or exit the clipboard manager
  3. 3Copy a phone number like "(555) 123-4567"
  4. 4Check if the suggested actions popup appears
  5. 5If it works, the clipboard manager was intercepting events
  6. 6Configure the clipboard manager to not intercept or to coexist with Windows clipboard
  7. 7Alternatively, choose between the third-party tool and Windows Suggested Actions
