For GDPR inquiries, you may contact us at the email addresses above.
2. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- RescuePC Website (rescuepcrepairs.com)
- RescuePC Desktop Application (RescuePC-Setup.exe, RescuePC Toolkit)
- License Activation System
- Customer Support Communications
3. Website Data Collection
When you visit our website, we collect:
- Analytics data – Page views, referrer, device type (via Google Analytics, anonymized)
- Essential cookies – For security, rate limiting, and session management
When you purchase a license:
- Email address – To deliver your license key and provide support
- Name (optional) – If provided during checkout
- Country/Region – For tax compliance and fraud prevention
- Payment information – Processed securely by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number
4. Desktop Application Data Collection
The RescuePC Toolkit is designed with privacy as a core principle.
What the Desktop App DOES Collect:
- License key – For activation and periodic re-verification, together with a hashed hardware identifier (Machine ID)
- Windows and application version – To ensure compatibility with repair scripts and check for updates
- System diagnostics – Driver status, service states, error codes (full details stay on your PC)
- Repair logs – Stored locally; only anonymized repair metadata (repair ID, success/failure, exit code, duration) is transmitted
- Operational telemetry – Anonymized, PII-stripped usage events (app start, repair outcomes) tied to a hashed license key and hashed Machine ID — never file contents. You can disable it at any time by setting the
RESCUEPC_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=1environment variable.
What the Desktop App Does NOT Collect:
- Personal documents or files
- Browsing history or bookmarks
- Passwords or credentials
- Photos, videos, or media
- Email content or contacts
- Keystrokes or screen captures
- Location data
- File names or file contents from your drives
Local-First Operation: All repair operations run entirely on your PC, and repairs work without an internet connection. When online, the Toolkit contacts our servers only for license re-verification, update checks, and the anonymized operational telemetry described above (disableable via RESCUEPC_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=1). Your files and personal data are never uploaded.
