Symptoms

You might be experiencing this problem if you notice:

Solutions

Solution 1: Enable Night Light and Fix Schedule

  1. 1Go to Settings > System > Display
  2. 2Toggle "Night light" ON
  3. 3Click "Night light settings" to adjust strength
  4. 4For scheduled mode: turn on "Schedule night light"
  5. 5Choose "Sunset to sunrise" (requires Location Services ON)
  6. 6Or set custom hours manually

Solution 2: Enable Location Services

  1. 1Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Location
  2. 2Turn ON "Location services"
  3. 3This is required for "Sunset to sunrise" scheduling
  4. 4Without location, Night Light won't know your local sunset/sunrise times

Solution 3: Reset Night Light via Registry

  1. 1Press Windows + R, type regedit
  2. 2Navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CloudStore\Store\DefaultAccount\Current\default$windows.data.bluelightreduction.bluelightreductionstate
  3. 3Delete the "default$windows.data.bluelightreduction.bluelightreductionstate" key
  4. 4Also delete "default$windows.data.bluelightreduction.settings" key if present
  5. 5Restart your computer
  6. 6Night Light settings will reset to defaults
