Solutions

Solution 1: Enable Location Services for Sunset/Sunrise

  1. 1Open Settings → Privacy & security → Location

  3. 3Ensure "Let apps access your location" is On
  4. 4Scroll down and ensure "Let desktop apps access your location" is On
  5. 5Go back to Settings → System → Display → Night Light
  6. 6Select "Sunset to sunrise"
  7. 7Windows needs your location to calculate sunset/sunrise times
  8. 8Verify it shows the correct times for your location

Solution 2: Set Manual Schedule and Verify Clock

  1. 1If sunset/sunrise does not work, use a manual schedule instead:
  2. 2Settings → System → Display → Night Light → Schedule
  3. 3Select "Set hours"
  4. 4Set your preferred on/off times
  5. 5Also verify your system clock is correct:
  6. 6Settings → Time & language → Date & time
  7. 7Enable "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically"
  8. 8Click "Sync now" to synchronize with time server
  9. 9Test that Night Light activates at the scheduled time

Solution 3: Reset Night Light Settings

  1. 1If schedule still not working, reset Night Light via registry:
  2. 2Open Registry Editor: Win+R → regedit
  3. 3Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CloudStore\Store\DefaultAccount\Current\default$windows.data.bluelightreduction.bluelightreductionstate
  4. 4Delete the "Data" value
  5. 5Also navigate to: ...\default$windows.data.bluelightreduction.settings
  6. 6Delete the "Data" value there as well
  7. 7Restart the computer
  8. 8Reconfigure Night Light settings from scratch
  9. 9Update display driver if the issue persists
