How to Fix Focus Assist / Do Not Disturb Not Working on Windows

Windows Focus Assist or Do Not Disturb not blocking notifications, not activating on schedule, or priority list not working? Fix notification suppression issues.

Solution 1: Configure Do Not Disturb (Windows 11)

  2. 2Toggle "Do not disturb" ON
  3. 3Click "Set a schedule" to configure automatic activation
  4. 4Set times, such as 10 PM to 7 AM
  5. 5Enable "During these times" and configure days
  6. 6Priority notifications still come through — configure in "Set priority notifications"

Solution 2: Configure Focus Assist (Windows 10)

  1. 1Go to Settings > System > Focus Assist
  2. 2Choose "Priority only" to allow only specific apps/contacts
  3. 3Click "Customize your priority list" to add apps
  4. 4Under "Automatic rules" enable/disable:
  5. 5— During gaming, During presentations, During specific hours
  6. 6Set "When I duplicate my display" to suppress during presentations

Solution 3: Fix Persistent Notifications

  1. 1Some notifications bypass Focus Assist if marked "Urgent"
  2. 2Go to Settings > System > Notifications
  3. 3Click on the specific app sending notifications
  4. 4Set notification priority to "Normal" instead of "High" or "Urgent"
  5. 5Also uncheck "Show notification banners" for noisy apps
  6. 6This gives you granular control beyond Focus Assist
