You might be experiencing this problem if you notice:

Solution 1: Reconnect and Restart File History

- 5If the drive isn't recognized: click "Select drive" and choose it again
- 6Click "Run now" to force an immediate backup
Solution 2: Fix Corrupted File History Database
- 1Navigate to your backup drive in File Explorer
- 2Find the "FileHistory" folder > your username folder
- 3Inside: find the "Configuration" folder
- 4Delete all .xml files in Configuration (these are the database files)
- 5Go back to File History settings and turn it off, then on again
- 6File History will rebuild its database and start fresh backups
Solution 3: Free Up Space on Backup Drive

- 2Under "Keep saved versions" change to "Until space is needed"
- 3Or change to "1 month" / "3 months" to limit retention
- 4Click "Clean up versions" to delete old backup versions now
- 5Consider using a larger backup drive if it fills up quickly
- 6Network shares: ensure the share has enough free space
