- 4Look for "shutdownwithoutlogon" — set to 1 to allow shutdown
- 5Also check: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power
- 6Look for "HiberbootEnabled" — set to 0 to disable Fast Startup
- 7Restart the computer and test the power button
- 8If still not working: the issue may be hardware-related
Solution 3: Fix ACPI and Hardware Issues
- 1Open Device Manager → System devices
- 2Find "ACPI Power Button" or "ACPI Lid" (for laptops)
- 3Right-click → Uninstall device → Restart the PC
- 4Windows will reinstall the ACPI driver automatically
- 5Also try: Device Manager → Keyboards → check for power button device
- 6Run Power Troubleshooter: Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters → Power
- 7If none of these work: the physical power button may be damaged
