Solutions
Solution 1: Turn Off Magnifier Immediately
- 1Press Windows key + Esc — this is the shortcut to close Magnifier
- 2Or press Windows key + Plus (+) to open Magnifier toolbar, then click X to close
- 3If you can't see the toolbar: press Windows key + Minus (-) to zoom out to 100%
- 4Then press Windows key + Esc to close it
- 5If completely stuck: Ctrl+Alt+Del > Task Manager > find "Magnifier" > End task
Solution 2: Prevent Magnifier from Auto-Starting
- 1Go to Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier (Win11) or Ease of Access > Magnifier (Win10)
- 2Turn OFF "Start Magnifier after sign-in"
- 3Turn OFF "Start Magnifier before sign-in for everyone"
- 4Set zoom level to 100% (minimum)
- 5Also check: Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard
- 6Ensure "Magnifier shortcut" isn't mapped to an accidental key combo
Solution 3: Fix Ctrl+Scroll Zoom
- 1If Ctrl+mouse wheel is zooming the screen instead of web pages:
- 2This is Magnifier's zoom, not browser zoom
- 3Press Win+Esc to close Magnifier
- 4Then: Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier
- 5Uncheck "Use Ctrl+Alt+mouse scroll to zoom in and out"
- 6In browsers: press Ctrl+0 to reset zoom to 100%
