Solutions

Solution 1: Enable Remote Desktop on Target PC

  1. 1On the PC you want to connect TO:
  2. 2Go to Settings > System > Remote Desktop
  3. 3Turn on "Remote Desktop"
  4. 4Note the PC name shown (you'll need it to connect)

Solution 2: Allow RDP Through Firewall

  1. 1On the target PC, open Windows Defender Firewall
  2. 2Click "Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall"
  3. 3Click "Change settings"
  4. 4Find "Remote Desktop" and check both Private and Public
  5. 5Click OK
  6. 6If using a third-party firewall, allow TCP port 3389

Solution 3: Fix Authentication Issues

  1. 1If getting credential errors, try: DOMAIN\username format
  2. 2On the host: Settings > System > Remote Desktop > Advanced settings
  3. 3Try unchecking "Require computers to use NLA to connect"
  4. 4On the client: delete saved RDP credentials in Credential Manager
  5. 5Control Panel > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials
