- ⚠BIOS setting disabled onboard audio
- ⚠Physical audio hardware failure or loose connection

Solutions
Solution 1: Re-enable Audio Device and Update Driver
- 1Open Device Manager (Win+X → Device Manager)
- 2Click View → Show hidden devices
- 3Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
- 4If your audio device appears with a down arrow: right-click → Enable device
- 5If it appears with a yellow warning: right-click → Update driver → Search automatically
- 6If the device is missing entirely:
- 7Right-click "Sound, video and game controllers" → Scan for hardware changes
- 8Also check under "Audio inputs and outputs" for disabled devices
Solution 2: Restart Audio Services
- 1Open Services.msc
- 2Find "Windows Audio" → right-click → Restart
- 3Find "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder" → right-click → Restart
- 4Ensure both are set to Automatic startup
- 5If they fail to start, check the Dependencies tab
- 6Windows Audio depends on: AudioEndpointBuilder, RPC, MMCSS
- 7Start all dependency services first, then Windows Audio
- 8Check the speaker icon — it should no longer show a red X
Solution 3: Reinstall Audio Driver
- 1Open Device Manager
- 2If audio device is visible: right-click → Uninstall device → check "Delete the driver software"
- 3If not visible: expand "System devices" → look for "High Definition Audio Controller"
- 4Uninstall the HD Audio Controller
- 5Restart the computer — Windows will reinstall generic drivers
- 6If generic drivers don't work:
- 7Download the latest audio driver from your PC/motherboard manufacturer
- 8For Realtek: download from realtek.com or your OEM's support page
