How to Fix Fix Reliability Monitor Not Updating or Empty on Windows

Reliability Monitor not showing data? Reliability history blank or stuck? Events not appearing in the stability graph? Fix Reliability Monitor on Windows 10 and 11.

Symptoms

You might be experiencing this problem if you notice:

  • Reliability Monitor shows a completely blank graph with no data
  • Reliability history stopped updating on a specific date
  • Events appear in Event Viewer but not in Reliability Monitor
  • Stability index stuck at the same number and not changing
  • Reliability Monitor says "No data available for this time period"
  • Application failures and crashes don't appear in the report

Common Causes

  • RACAgent scheduled task disabled or broken
  • Reliability Analysis Component (RAC) data collection stopped
  • Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) repository corrupt
  • Task Scheduler service not running properly
  • Corrupted reliability data in PerfData folder
  • Group Policy or third-party optimization tool disabled the RAC task

Solutions

Solution 1: Enable the RACAgent Scheduled Task

  1. 1Open Task Scheduler (taskschd.msc)
  2. 2Navigate to: Task Scheduler Library → Microsoft → Windows → RAC
  3. 3Find "RacTask" in the right pane
  4. 4Right-click → Enable (if it shows Disabled)
  5. 5Right-click → Run to force an immediate data collection
  6. 6Wait 15-30 minutes, then check Reliability Monitor again
  7. 7If the RAC folder doesn't exist: the WMI repository may be corrupt (see solution 3)
  8. 8Also verify: Task Scheduler service is running in services.msc

Solution 2: Reset Reliability Monitor Data

  1. 1Open CMD as Administrator
  2. 2Stop the data collection: schtasks /change /tn "\Microsoft\Windows\RAC\RacTask" /disable
  3. 3Delete old reliability data:
  4. 4Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\RAC and delete all contents inside
  5. 5Re-enable the task: schtasks /change /tn "\Microsoft\Windows\RAC\RacTask" /enable
  6. 6Force a run: schtasks /run /tn "\Microsoft\Windows\RAC\RacTask"
  7. 7Wait 15-30 minutes for new data collection
  8. 8Open Reliability Monitor: type "reliability" in Start menu search
  9. 9The graph should start populating with fresh data

Solution 3: Repair WMI Repository

  1. 1If the RAC task folder is missing, repair WMI:
  2. 2Open CMD as Administrator
  3. 3Test WMI consistency: winmgmt /verifyrepository
  4. 4If it reports inconsistent: winmgmt /salvagerepository
  5. 5If still broken: winmgmt /resetrepository
  6. 6Warning: resetrepository removes all custom WMI data — use as last resort
  7. 7After repair, restart the computer
  8. 8Run: sfc /scannow to repair any other system file damage
  9. 9Then: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  10. 10Check Reliability Monitor after the next data collection cycle
