  • "How do you want to open this file?" for every image
  • Windows Photo Viewer missing as an option
  • Photos app crashes when opening images

  • Images open in browser or Paint instead of Photos

  • Default app for images not set
  • Photos app corrupted or not installed
  • Windows Photo Viewer registry entries removed (Windows 10/11)
  • File association database corrupted

Solutions

Solution 1: Set Default Photo App
