Symptoms

You might be experiencing this problem if you notice:

Solutions

Solution 1: Check Sound Scheme Settings

  1. 1Right-click the speaker icon > Sounds
  2. 2Make sure "Sound Scheme" is set to "Windows Default" (not "No Sounds")
  3. 3Click through Program Events and verify sounds are assigned
  4. 4Click "Test" on any event to verify playback
  5. 5Click Apply and OK

Solution 2: Check Volume Mixer Levels

  1. 1Right-click the speaker icon > Open volume mixer
  2. 2Look for "System Sounds" channel
  3. 3Make sure it's not muted and volume is adequate
